The coalition now has a representation of 20 chambers in the Town of Brookhaven, with many who are actively involved in the BCCC. Our mission is to represent all Chambers of Commerce that are within the boundaries of the Town, and to support the vast numbers of businesses and professionals who are members of these Chambers, in a uniform voice on common issues and concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition has sponsored seminars to help aid small businesses, including an employment job fair held in cooperation with the Small Business Development Corp., and two training workshops through the Corporate Center at Suffolk County Community College, on marketing strategies and public relations.<\/p>\n<p>The BCCC has lobbied within the Town to strengthen the Peddlers and Vendors Laws and was helpful in updating the Town\u2019s sign ordinance codes. For 4 years, the BCCC marketed and promoted \u201cCelebrate Main Street America\u201d campaign. \u00a0This campaign helped stimulate local shopping in January, when it is traditionally slow.<\/p>\n<p>The BCCC has continued to host a Business to Business Networking Event. This successful trade show is open to all.\u00a0 Additionally, BCCC took a stance on the banning of smoking in public restaurants, and presented a position paper to the Suffolk County Legislative.<\/p>\n<p>Annually, in April, the Coalition celebrates honoring their choice for \u201cOutstanding Member of the Year&#8221;, recognizing individual chamber members for their outstanding contributions, with an awards reception night.<\/p>\n<p>They created a shopping decal in support of local shopping and solidarity, showing that savings, service, satisfaction and support are all valid reasons you should support your local business community.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, the Coalition created the Pasquale DeAngelis scholarship, which honored a Town of Brookhaven senior high school student who plans on continuing their education in business. The award was for $1000, and was referred to the BCCC Scholarship.\u00a0 In 2021, this award changed with economic needs to a business grant.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2008, the BCCC has co-sponsored a small business trade show entitled \u201cStrictly Business\u201d with the Middle Country Chamber of Commerce, and the Miller Business Resource Center. \u00a0It is held in May. By joining the internet email service Constant Contact, BCCC has created better communication with their\u00a0chamber business partner leaders. In addition, BCCC&#8217;s\u00a0website is now more user-friendly, and remains current. Finally, they\u00a0have been recognized as a 501-c6.<\/p>\n<p>2010 brought their first economic development grants for a winning chamber and small business, and saw the sponsoring of a three part series of interactive workshops on customer service.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, the BCCC updated and improved their marketing brochure, and was instrumental in helping to re-kindle \u2018The Suffolk County Coalition of Chambers of Commerce.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the BCCC partnered with Optimum\/Cablevision to host a \u201cTechnology Business Breakfast\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, the BCCC sponsored a new program the: <i>Triangle of Success for Businesses-<\/i> how to successfully market your business.\u00a0 Presentations included email marketing by Constant Contact, social marketing and direct mail marketing.\u00a0 The program was FREE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Established in 1992, the coalition is a not-for-profit business organization.
